William Lamb Footwear was founded in 1887 manufacturing clogs for the West Riding Woollen mills. In the 1950s we specialised in football boots and the 1970s saw a massive expansion into training shoes. In 1982 the Gola brand was acquired and this was used as a vehicle into the provision of sportswear, which was predominantly of Far East origin. The Gola brand was sold in 1990.

Since the late 1990s all production has been undertaken overseas. We are members of the Ethical Trading Initiative and have offices in China, Vietnam, Thailand and Laos. We employ 100 people in the UK and have a similar number in our Far East offices. We also import footwear from Portugal, Spain and Italy. We are the fastest growing UK footwear importer and have a design team of 18 full-time designers and through computer links to our Far East offices we are able to execute initial concept to development samples in 3-4 weeks.
