Thick Straps

According to our style sources, thick straps are set to be a predominant theme throughout the Spring/Summer 2010 footwear trends. Not only will these ensure style throughout 2010 but the thickness of the straps will also prevent the rubbing and chaffing caused by thinner straps.

Buckles

The buckle seems to be a recurring feature with many footwear designers last year and this year. Last year we saw many multi strapped styles with buckle fastenings both on the sides, on the front and ankles. In addition, we also saw the buckle play the central theme on many styles, often with one or two significantly larger buckles. A combination of thick straps and buckle features would be look well on the road to stylish city.

Wedges and Wooden Heels

Yep, that’s right, the wedges are back yet again, and thank god I might add. A shoe that raises your stance whilst maintaining the comfort of a low heel is genius. Wedges always sway in and out of our lives all too quickly and the last wedge flurry was back in 2007 when the high streets saw an array of braided straw heeled wedges. But now they are back, and it would seem that wooden heels might be a regular feature of the next wedge wave.

Pale/Nude Colour Schemes

The neutral/nude colour scheme seems to be a popular visionary throughout the whole fashion industry, not only within footwear but also in clothing lines. Shades’ such as pale pinks, beige, creams, tans, and obviously whites are forecast to be the colour of Spring/Summer season 2010. Classic Toe Post

The good old toe post is still growing strong and will be for some time to come. It’s comfortable, easy to wear and looks good with any outfit. In combination with thick straps the toe post look is a sure winner.

In for another stint, the Grecian style gladiator sandals are set to make another appearance for Spring/Summer 2010. Designs with multi straps and buckle fastenings will be the key features on many of the gladiator styles prominent in the fashion industry this season. Teamed with a summer skirt or dress, the gladiator sandals will make for an excellent addition to an on trend summer outfit.
